Jagd Panzer

Jagdpanzer IV- Mick Pitts

One of the groups best modellers, Mick likes nothing better than to get an ancient kit and bring it up to modern standards. For instance on this model, the old Tamiya kit, he replaced all hooks and handles with fuse wire, textured the armour and made the tracks sag by inserting metal pins to hold the track.

King Tiger

King Tiger- Mick Ellis

This model was completed with the 1/48th scale kit from Tamiya and the Zimmerit photo-etch parts from Eduard. The faded camouflage is very typical of German vehicles in the last few weeks of the war as they soon faded in colour and were only painted where it was needed, hence the unpainted underside of the barrel.

Half Track

Sdkfz.7- Peter Collins

This 1/72nd model was Peter’s second attempt at a small-scale vehicle. It was painted using Tamiya XF-69 NATO Black as an undercoat with XF-63 German Grey Topcoat. After decaling this was treated with a Raw Umber wash before a very light overall highlighting- Very commendable for a first attempt.

Bergepanzer III Graham Cobb

Winner of the award for best AFV in show this vehicle was on the stand of the BMSS Military Vehicle Special Interest Group and was chosen for the finesse of the painting.

Kriegs Locomotive Class BR52

Dave Ryan

Dave is our lifetime Chairman as it was his idea to start a MAFVA Group in our part of Essex. This model is built from the Trumpeter Kit and is for inclusion in a 6ft diorama with the 28cm Leopold Rail gun from Dragon. A highly complicated beast it certainly draws the crowds to our table.

Panzer II Ausf.G Graham Cotter

Graham completed this model with assistance from Lee Lacey in a couple of session tutorials run by Lee at his home.  It was built from the ancient Tamiya release in 1/35th and shows very well just what can be achieved with successful weathering. The cupola is open to allow a figure to be included later.

Sdkfz 222 Armoured Car

Mick Ellis

Mick restored this Sdkfz 222 from a model he had built almost 20 years ago. The addition of a new coat of paint and weathering has certainly improved the look and the vehicle will now be included in a small diorama.
