The ESSEX BRANCH of M.A.F.V.A is the newest member in the expanding number of local branches around the country and is run by modellers for modellers. The aim of the branch is to help armour modellers both beginner and advanced build, display and compete at national level with their models in an atmosphere where everybody is equal and the experienced help the inexperienced.

            This means that the experienced are asked to be forthcoming with information about modelling techniques and take new members or the inexperienced in the club under their wing and show them the ‘tricks of the trade’.

            Competitions are not in place at the club as these were deemed from the offset as very damaging things and we encourage members to compete at National level, not with one another.
            Numerous members offer tuition to new members around their homes and numerous demonstrations are held at the club during the year (normally three).

            The club runs it own show, ‘PRESENT ARMS’ that takes place in a Romford School in August and hope that it will become one of the most respected shows in England. This show is completely military in orientation and we always welcome requests for space from branches of MAFVA, BMSS, independent military modelling societies and Wargaming clubs.

            Moreover we believe that our hobby should be fun and is better when it is shared. As well as this it is thought that by belonging to a club and taking part in club events that we will all get more enjoyment. MAFVA Essex is a place where everybody gets on and where troublemakers are dealt with swiftly so as not to damage the club as a whole.

            So if you live in Essex or the surrounding area but have been afraid of joining a club please come along- you will be most welcome- you have no worries we don’t Bite!!!
